Jing Yoga

Jing Yoga classes are primarily vinyasa flow yoga. Vinyasa (pron. Vin-ya-sa) means to place in a special way. Vinyasa is inspired by many different forms of yoga, with the strong foundation in the Vinyasa style Hatha, Ashtanga, Iyengar and Viniyoga traditions. This is an invigorating practice with the creative and playful sequencing that has been combined with several Qigong/Tai Chi movements, breathwork, visualization and mantras.

We honor the body’s inherent dynamism by moving fluidly from pose to pose in synchronized rhythm with breath. Cultivating strength, endurance, flexibility, balance, focus and serenity. Often referred to as meditation in motion, clearing and steadying the body-mind while opening the heart and spirit to its fullest and awareness of blissful being.

An aspect of each class is encouraging students the opportunity to connect and ask themselves “How am I feeling? What’s going on with me right now? What am I holding onto that’s blocking my ability to live my full potential?” These questions anchor each student to the present, who they are right now. Sometimes we walk in the world totally disconnected and reacting to life, instead of responding with awareness of how we function each moment.

Emotions are the bridge from mind to body, yet the bridge may be blocked by emotionally charged tension patterns that unconsciously defend against change. Emotional release is a process of restoring the capacity to feel fully alive and joyful once more. Allowing yourself to be consciously aware of how you feel each time you practice and have the willingness to shift and create change of stagnant and negative energy.

It takes, the de-cluttering of the mind, the relaxation of the breath, the opening of the heart, the use of mantras and the desire to take responsibility which in return brings health, peace and harmony in oneself, connection with one’s family and community, happiness and inspiration in one’s journey and life purpose.

Your heart remembers who you are and why you are here. An open, fluid connection to your heart can be described as an AH HA experience. Like a child, you can again feel what your heart knows with immediate benefits and lasting changes that gradually transform your lifestyle and relationships. What Jemma calls “Return to Innocence” and experiencing the world in every moment as if it was new.

These classes provides modifications and variations that are offered throughout to accommodate students who are relatively newer or more experienced. Great for new students, great for experienced students. Each class includes sun salutations, standing poses, backbends, forward bends, twists, hip openers and inversions and basic tai chi/qigong movements. Some classes also offer core integration and some introduce basic arm balancing poses, Pranayama (breathing exercises) and Yoga Nidra (guided relaxation) included.

In a recent survey more than 75% of Jemma’s students practicing Jing Yoga have experienced a 60-150% improvement of either peacefulness, reduced stress, gained more energy, improved strength, flexibility and wellbeing or a combination of these.
